The Children Act, 1992 lays down basic policies for Juvenile Justice by providing Juvenile Court or Juvenile Benches. Juvenile Justice Procedure Regulations, 2006 constitutes a Juvenile Justice Coordination Committee for Planning and developing policy. This committee is formed having nine members and headed by a Senior Justice of Supreme Court. Secretary of Home Ministry, Secretary of Ministry of Law and Justice; Secretary of Ministry Women, Children and Social Welfare; a Deputy Attorney General; Additional Inspector General of Police; and a renowned National Child Rights Activist are the members of the Committee.
